It’s time to renew memberships!
July starts the new fiscal year for the American Legion and the start of membership renewals. While your current membership is valid until January, I encourage you not to wait, but to renew early. You can renew at the Post or online at www.legion.org.
Online Training
Training is a key to help our members learn more about the American Legion and their role in the American Legion. If you haven’t taken Basic Training, I encourage you to take the free two-hour course. Go to: calegion.org under the heading training there are Six different avenues for you. The Post is only as good as our Leaders' knowledge and commitment.
The Post is becoming a member of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce. The dues are minimal, and I plan to attend Chamber meetings to broadcast what the Post means to the Community and to Veterans. I am hoping to line up some donors as well to help us with some Post renovations.
Historian
Our Historian has had to step down to take care of some personal issues, so as your Commander I am looking for someone to step up and fill that role.
Hall Rental Agent
We are inching closer to solvency financially, the Clubroom, while a great gathering place for our members and other Veterans cannot sustain the post. Hall rentals in conjunction with the Clubroom will keep the Post alive. We have a new rental agent, Bob Anschick, who previously served on our Executive committee, we will make sure his contact information is available and prominently posted. If you know of someone interested in renting the hall please contact Bob.
Jeff Flynt Memorial
Lastly it was with great sadness that Jeff Flynt of the Sons Squadron passed away. His memorial is on July 25th at 1100 and all members are invited to come a pay their respects to Jeff who was a pillar not only to the Sons but the Post as well.
